Complaining is automatic and giving thanks takes work. We notice the one piece that was missing and walk right past the other ninety-nine that were in place. Luke 12:15 proposes reversing the order of our gaze.
When we look at the Scriptures, we realize that the theme of Generosity and Contentment is not just moral advice, but a matter of spiritual survival. Our natural tendency is to follow the current of the culture, but the call of Christ is always countercultural.
